I'm an avid rock climber and former outdoor guide and very active midwife with celiac and blood sugar issues in a busy final year of residency. I LOVE your bars but have a hard time getting them! Pregnancy is such an important time in a women's life to reflect about what she puts into her body and gets motivated to make positive changes. I'd love to recommend this bar to my clients!

I am hyperglycemic and often struggle to find snacks that won't
spike my blood sugar. I also struggle with an ineffective digestive tract that results in acid reflux. The Simply Bar has been my solution to a balanced and filling snack that satisfies my large appetite.
Thank you so much for developing this product

The bars were designed by a gastroenterologist for someone with Crohn’s (the company founder). This means that the bars are free of gluten, dairy and sugar alcohols and low in sugar and fat.

|
No gluten or dairy
The Simply Bar has the most protein for the least calories of any bar we have ever found! Click here to see how we compare with other popular and great bars

Low sugar
We all need to reduce the sugars in our diets however this is particularly true for people with digestive issues. The Simply Bar has under 10 g of sugars per bar, which comes from low glycemic agave nectar and organic brown rice.
|
|
Low fat
Fat slows digestion which can lead to bloating. The Simply Bar has only 2 to 3 grams of fat. It is, by far, the lowest fat protein bar available.

No sugar alcohols
Sugar alcohols (sorbitol, maltitol, xylitol) are low calorie because they are only partially absorbed by the body. The unabsorbed portion is fermented creating gas and bloating. Unpleasant at best! Sugar alcohols include sorbitol, maltitol, sylitol and glycerine. You can often detect them with a funny aftertaste in protein bars. The Simply Bar is sweetened with agave nectar and brown rice cyrup – easy-to-absorb and natural sweeteners.
The Simply Bar has no sugar alcohols and is low in fructose. Both sugar alcohols and fructose are known to cause stomach upset!
- General digestive complaints are a common problem with up to 30% of the Western population impacted.
- The most common carbohydrates that cause stomach upset are: fructose, lactose, and sorbitol (sugar alcohol).
- Fructose and sorbitol are used most often as sweeteners and in sugar-free foods.
- The effect of sugar alcohols depend on the amount you eat.
- Recent estimates find fructose consumption at an average of 54.7g/day and up to 73g/day in children of the US. This is an increase of nearly 50% from 1977-1988. (1)
Based on a study in 2007, volunteers who ate 50 grams of fructose that was dissolved in 250mL water faced a malabsorption rate of ~60%-70%. When ingestion of fructose was decreased to 25g malabsorption rates lowered to 40%. On the other hand, some participants experienced 100% malabsorption even after only 10g intake of sorbitol or other sugar alcohols. Results were similar in children as well. (2)

The Simply Bar is meant as a snack. We believe you should eat meals consisting of veggies, whole foods and lean proteins. We suggest having one Simply Bar in your bag for emergencies: on the road, stuck in meetings or airports.
