What are protein bars?
- People often compare The Simply Bar with famous fruit and nut bars. That’s like comparing apples and oranges. Yes, apples and oranges are both fruits, just like Simply Bars and Lara Bars are both bars. The key difference here is protein. What are protein bars? Protein bars are a quick and efficient way to fuel your body with high quality protein when on the go. Whether you are stuck in traffic or running late to your next appointment, protein bars are a convenient snack to keep on hand you when you are hungry and don’t have access to nutritious food. Protein bars are a great alternative to high-fat, high-sugar, widely available snacks such as chips, candy, and soda. By providing 16g of protein and 4g of fiber, The Simply Bar helps you feel fuller longer. When looking for the right protein bar, make sure to stay away from imitation protein bars disguised as candy bars that are full of sugar or artificial sweeteners, low in protein, and high in calories. Make sure the first ingredient on the list is the protein source and not chocolate or sweetener. How do you tell? You can look at a comparison chart of nutritionals. We immediately rule out bars with more than 10g of sugar, otherwise you may as well eat a candy bar! Sugar is tied to obesity, diabetes and a number of different ailments. We are now learning that sugar may be more detrimental than fat to one’s health.

Why can't I find your bars or chips at my local retailer?
- In the US, we are mostly carried in stores in New York and its surrounding states (see our full list of stores). Having said that, we would love to get into more retailers throughout the US, so we encourage you to reach out to your preferred health store(s) and suggest they carry our bars. This would be for both your convenience as well as an introduction for them to our bars that may benefit their other customers as well.
Why do shipping costs seem so high?
- Our shipping costs are calculated automatically at the checkout based on shipping location and size of order (weight). Our warehouse is in upstate New York so locations in the south or in the west have relatively higher shipping costs. We charge only what it costs us to ship the bars out to our customers.
Do you offer samples for people who are interested in trying The Simply Bar?
- To help new customers try out The Simply Bar, we offer sample packs of our Simply Protein Chips and Simply Bars at a subsidized rate.
Is The Simply Bar certified kosher?
- Yes, The Simply Bar is certified kosher by Orthodox Union (OU), the world’s largest and most widely recognized kosher certification agency, as well as the Kashruth Council of Canada, the largest kosher certification agency in Canada (COR symbol with numbers 553 associated with the authenticity of our designation). Our Simply Protein Chips are certified UM Kosher.
Is The Simply Bar gluten-free?
- Yes. The Simply Bar is gluten-free and is manufactured in a gluten-free environment to prevent cross-contamination. We follow strict manufacturing practices and screen all our products using R5-Elisa. At ‹5ppm of gluten, our delicious protein packed bars are both safe for our celiac consumers, as well as an excellent snack option.
Is The Simply Bar facility Gluten-Free?
- Yes. The Simply Bar facility is maintained within a gluten-free environment. It should be noted that our facility also manufactures oats. Oats are naturally gluten-free. However, there is some concern whether the oats are grown in a field that at some point grew other gluten containing grains. Rest assured, our oats are tested for gluten before and after each usage.
How often do The Simply Bar screen for gluten?
- The Simply Bar, after consulting a dietitian at the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University, had to improve the standards of testing. We follow strict manufacturing practices and now incorporate R5-Elisa testing by Bia Diagnostics. We are proud to share our tasty protein bars with our celiac friends. At ‹5ppm we are considered a safe source of nutrition for even the greatest gluten-intolerant consumer.
How The Simply Bar will be broadcasting the gluten-free message?
- The Simply Bar are currently working on the labeling to get the message out to anyone with questions regarding our gluten-free criteria. Please let us know if there is anything else you would like us to add! We love hearing for you.
Do all your products contain nuts?
- No, not all of our bars are made with nuts in their ingredients. However, the facility which we use to manufacture our product is not nut-free, so we cannot guarantee a nut-free product.
Where is the company located?
- The Wellness Foods head office is in Toronto, Canada. This is where the company and The Simply Bar were first created.
Is The Simply Bar safe for diabetics?
- Yes! All our Simply Bars were designed for diabetics. Instead of using large amounts of fat, they rely on Non-Genetically-Modified soy protein and organic brown rice syrup. The diabetic conversion of 1 Simply Bar = 3 lean proteins and 1 carbohydrate choice.
Is The Simply Bar suitable for children?
- We suggest giving children under the age of 10 only half a Simply Bar at one time due to the large amount of protein in each bar.
Is The Simply Bar suitable for vegetarians and vegans?
- Yes! Unlike many other bars, The Simply Bar is vegan. We use no gelatin or whey. We use non-genetically modified soy protein where as other bars turn to casein or whey for protein, which are all milk proteins.

- The Simply Bar will never be a cheap bar because we use the best ingredients, with no junk or fillers. We are proud of our ingredients and of the great nutritional value of our product. I purchased a Simply Bar that was more crumbly than other Simply Bars.
- Crumbliness is a feature we are consistently working to improve and avoid, however, sometimes there are the few bars from a batch that may be more prone to crumbling. We suggest you do not store or keep the bars in a cold environment, as that can contribute to the crumbliness of the bars.
